Description: Located in Newark's downtown cultural district, The New Jersey Historical Society is a statewide, nonprofit museum, library, and archives. We collect, preserve, and interpret New Jersey's rich and intricate history to the broadest possible audiences. Founded in 1845, we are one of the oldest cultural institutions in the state. Through award-winning exhibitions, publications, and programming, we examine who and what we are,what it means to live and work in New Jersey, what contributes to New Jersey's distinct identity, and the unique contributions New Jerseyans make to the region and the country.

Description: The council is a service group of the local cultural community, providing technical assistance to emerging arts organizations and individual artists in development, marketing, fiscal agent services, and mailing lists. It also sponsors the Newark chapter of the National Business Volunteers for The Arts program. A communications project, Newark Arts, is also produced by the council, encompassing a radio broadcast program, a cable TV program, and a newsletter.

Description: Newark School of the Arts (NSA) is designated as a Major Arts Service Organization and received a Citation of Excellence from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Established in 1968, the School provides comprehensive, sequential training in music, dance, drama, and visual arts, as well as performance opportunities for children and adults of all ages and abilities, regardless of financial need. Classes are held over two 17-week sessions from September to June. During the month of July, limited private music lessons are offered, as well as a full day arts and recreation program for children ages 5 to 15. NSA has a community division for beginner and intermediate students, and a professional division for advanced students. Advanced students are culled from NSA community division, and through outside auditions. Call for a curriculum brochure listing the School diverse curriculum.
