Free Guided Bird Walks

Monthly bike rides on the first Friday of each month, meet at Beaver Street and Market Street at 7 pm.
Repair and Ride: Learn how to fix your bike at free repair sessions from 2 to 4 pm on the third Sunday of each month in Lincoln Park, and join in a group ride leaving from Lincoln Park at 4:15 on those days.

March 12 - City of Newark and Environmental Protection Agency Announce New Grant
Deputy Mayor of Economic and Housing Development Stefan Pryor, East Ward Council Member Augusto Amador, Federal Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator Judith Enck, and Ironbound Community Corporation (ICC) Executive Director Joseph Della Fave, Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura and other dignitaries announced the award of a federal $100,000 Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) grant to the Ironbound Community Corporation to identify and address environmental health risks in the East Ward, during a press conference which was held at the River Bank Park Field House in Newark, yesterday.

Mayor Cory A. Booker, Newark Municipal Council Members, EPA Regional Administrator Judith Enck, Deputy Mayor of Economic and Housing Development Stefan Pryor, Sustainability Officer Chelsea Albucher and other dignitaries marked the one-year anniversary of President Obama’s signing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and highlighted the use of federal stimulus funds to remediate three brownfield sites, during a press conference in the City Hall Rotunda, today.

Gonzalez, Sustainability Officer Chelsea Albucher, representatives from Newark-based Weston Solutions, Inc. and Wilson Avenue Realty Company executives inspected the installation of solar panels on the roof of the Engineering Department’s motor vehicle garage at 233-249 Wilson Avenue in Newark’s East Ward yesterday.
