More than 800 Senior Citizens expected to attend annual event;
Senior Winners of the Fashion Show Will Be Able To Serve As the “Mayor for a Day,”
“Council President for the Day” And “Newark Public Librarian for a Day” In Fall 2011
Newark, NJ – May 24, 2011 – Mayor Cory A. Booker, Municipal Council Member-at-Large Mildred C. Crump, the Newark Municipal Council, and members of the Mayor’s Senior Citizens’ Commission will host the 22nd Anniversary Celebration of the Senior Citizen Cultural Extravaganza and Fashion Show, tomorrow, Wednesday, May 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Robert Treat Hotel. The hotel is located at 50 Park Place. Councilwoman Crump is spearheading this spectacular event as Chair of the Senior Citizen Cultural Extravaganza and Fashion Show.
The senior winners of the fashion show will be able to serve as the “Mayor for a Day,” “Council President for the Day” and “Newark Public Librarian for a Day” in Fall 2011. Hundreds of senior citizens from across the City will compete for the coveted posts.
WHO: Mayor Cory A. Booker, Municipal Council Woman-at-Large Mildred Crump and more than 800 Newark seniors.
