Message From The Municipal Court Director
 
The Municipal Court of the City of Newark strives to serve the public in accordance with the core values of the New Jersey Judiciary- Independence, Integrity, Fairness and Quality Service.
 
As the largest municipal court in Essex County- and the busiest court in New Jersey, the Newark Municipal Court adjudicates over 500,000 matters each year.  Court sessions are conducted seven days a week and the court serves thousands of people every day.
 
Providing high quality customer service is one of our primary goals.  Improvements to the court’s Call Center and website have increased information available to the public and have reduced the need for citizens to come to the courthouse in person to obtain information.
 
With the use of staff training, advancements in technology, and our ongoing review of court processes and procedures, the court continues to seek enhancements to how we serve the public with goal of ensuring that all court users are treated fairly and efficiently. We continuously work towards improving the court experience for all court users.  The Newark Municipal Court is working diligently towards the goal of becoming the leading municipal court in the State of New Jersey.
