The Medical Care Services Division of the Department of Child and Family Wellbeing promotes the health of all Newark residents, particularly the vulnerable population, by providing medical care services to Newark residents through a variety of medical practices and units. The division includes the following practices:
- Adult Medical, which provides primary medical care/immunizations to individuals 18 years of age
and older.

- Communicable Disease Prevention and Treatment Center (CDPTC), which provides treatment
and counseling services to individuals suspected of having sexually transmitted diseases and the
contacts of those individuals. The program also provides confidential counseling/screening for HIV
disease.

Newark Infant Mortality Reduction Program, which aims to reduce infant death in high-risk
individuals between the ages of 13 and 44 who reside in the City of Newark. The project provides free
pregnancy testing and case management for the following: comprehensive pre-natal and
pediatric care, immunizations, health education, nutritional counseling,breast-feeding support, and WIC
services.
