About Administration

MISSION AND PURPOSE
The mission of the Office of the Business Administrator is to provide the conduit of leadership and management to the overall functioning of the City of Newark’s ten operational divisions.  It is through this effort, that the visionary goals and objectives set forth by the Mayor are reinforced and executed.

Under the auspices of the Business Administrator, the Office of the Business Administrator upholds the fiduciary responsibility to maintain and create policies and procedures that guarantee the beneficial delivery of services to the citizens of Newark in the most cost effective and efficient manner.  Defined by the New Jersey state statute known as the “The Faulkner Act”, the Business Administrator is the highest-ranking non-elected official of the City.   As the senior manager of the City’s operations, the Business Administrator prepares the City’s budget and supervises the day-to-day activities of those divisions and offices within the Department of Administration.

Among its’ objectives, the Office of the Business Administrator seeks to provide the necessary tools to facilitate the optimal functioning of city government, as well as provide a proactive approach to address and resolve constituent concerns.  To this point, the Business Administrator actively participates in the discourse of community affairs and continually cultivates the relationships and opportunities necessary to meet the goals set forth by the Mayor.
