Voter registration forms are available at City Hall in Room B9 or at the County Clerk's Office, located at 465 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Forms are also available online at www.essexclerk.com/election_registration. To be eligible to vote, you must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old by the next election, and a resident of Essex County for 30 days before the election.
The New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA) requires a person requesting access to government records to complete, sign, and date the request form adopted by the City of Newark. The completed form can be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk, OPRA Unit, Room 415A, City Hall, either in person or by fax, email, or mail. The fax number is (973) 733-4893.
You may register in person at the Office of the City Clerk, Room 309, City Hall, or by fax at (973) 733-3725. (The registration form is available online in the download forms section of this website.) Please note that the application must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the Monday before the Municipal Council meeting.
You must complete an Open Public Records Act (OPRA) form and submit it to the City Clerk's OPRA Unit, Room 415A, City Hall either in person or by fax, email (office email set-up pending), or mail. The fax number is (973) 733-4893. The fee for an audiotape is $5.00; the fee for a DVD is $10.00.
Ward/Street maps can be obtained in Room b-9.
The Municipal Council Calendar can be obtained within any unit the Office of the City Clerk.
Zoning Ordinances, Regulations and Maps can be obtained in room 415.
The Municipal Code can be obtained in Room 415 and on the city website.
The Municipal Council Agenda can be obtained in Room 309 and on the city website.
The Municipal Charter can be obtained in Room 415.
