Details:           In an effort to address parents’ ongoing concerns surrounding the scheduled February 16 opening of the newSpeedway Ave. School, Councilman Rice is co-hosting this community meeting with various community partners. The meeting will serve as a catalyst to address five specific areas of concern, including: how the traffic situation will be addressed as the new school sits on busy South Orange Ave.; the status of the issuance of the school’s permanent Certificate of Occupancy; the security plan for the school, based on the location; plans for expanding the play area; and the safety/evacuation procedures for students.
 
                        Representatives from the Newark Public Schools, municipal and county elected and administrative officials and state agencies have been invited to offer answers to the questions, and to address any additional questions parents may have.
