The Brick City Development Corporation is Newark’s primary economic development catalyst. BCDC is organized to retain, attract and grow businesses, enhance small and minority business capacity, and spur real estate development in the City. BCDC’s programs for businesses include:

• Technical assistance that empowers small, minority and woman-owned (SWMBE) businesses with expertise and resources

• The Grow Newark Fund, which provides loans and capital to SWMBEs that do not meet traditional eligibility requirements for loans from banks

• Grants and loans for food retail enterprises and small grocers selling fresh produce

• Bonding assistance, contractor training and mentoring for SWMBE enterprise contractors
